
Export: The major exports during the week were cardamom, ginger, potatoes and mandarin. Export to Bangladesh accounted for 96 percent of the total; the rest going to India. In total, 56.2 MT of produce worth Nu.12.44 million was exported.
The export of agricultural produce occurred only via Phuentsholing gateway during this week. Over 16 MT of ginger and potatoes worth Nu.0.46m was exported to India. While 24.8 MT of cardamom and 14.5 MT of mandarin worth over Nu.11m was exported to Bangladesh.
The mandarin export depo at Phuentsholing (Toorsa river bank) is operationalized from December 1, 2020. Current offered rate are Nu.800/box (25kg) of meel quality and Nu.600/box (25kg) of keel quality. With the onset of mandarin season, the export from other gateways such as Gelephu, S/jongkhar and Nanglam are expected to pick in the coming weeks.
