Weekly export of agricultural produce (Nov 8-14, 2020)

Export

The major exports during the week were cardamom, ginger, potatoes and cabbage. Export to Bangladesh accounted for 23 percent of the total; the rest going to India. In total, 1412.02 MT of produce worth Nu.55.14 million was exported.

The biggest export via Phuentsholing with over 864 MT of potatoes and 7 MT of ginger worth Nu. 24.65m and 0.15m respectively was exported to India. The export of cardamom also took place via Phuentsholing and around 26 MT of cardamom worth Nu.12.75, was exported to Bangladesh. Over 510 MT of potatoes and cabbage worth Nu.17.49m was exported to India via Gelephu.

Only 4 MT of potatoes with Nu.0.1m was exported to India via S/Jongkhar. The low volume of export via this gateway compared to the past weeks could be attributed to the potato export season coming to an end in the eastern region.
